Other People’s Energy Bringing You Down? ?

Energetic Protection 101

Many of my clients struggle with feeling “heavy” or aware of carrying the weight of someone else’s energy. Be it at work, at home, walking into a room or a store, spending time with a close friend and someone we love – most people are not aware of the energetic influence they have in the space that they occupy, or how it affects others sharing that space.

When we walk into a room, we can often feel “the vibe” of others in the space. Sometimes, it’s excitement – and you’re lifted up to match that level, only to crash later. Sometimes, it’s dread or boredom – leaving you feeling like you’re dragging. Sometimes, it’s fear or anger – again, this can leave you feeling that in your body for hours or days following.

Imagine energy like a fog that has the ability to cling to you, so even after you leave one energy cloud to another, it keeps layering on molecule after molecule after molecule until you have layers and layers of energy clinging to you that is not yours.

Unknowingly taking on the energy of others, or spreading our own unchecked energy, is a common occurrence for all of us. It is especially important now to know how to cleanse ourselves of our own negative energy and the energy that is not ours.

The world is shifting, we are all going through significant changes in our lives, and with this magnitude of change comes anxiety and fear of the unknown. We are human and it is healthy to feel and process all of the feelings that come with being human. However, when we are in a state of fear, we are more likely to color our energy field with that energy – and that impacts the energy of those around us.

If this sounds like something you struggle with after a day at work, or a stop at Walmart, or after coffee with a certain friend – consider checking out our class about protecting yourself from other people’s energy.

Sarah Pickard, of Upper Room Reiki, and myself will be teaching Energetic Protection 101 on Saturday, February 8th at 10:30am at Trillium Wellness Center in Potsdam, NY.

Many blessings, my friends. You’re not alone.
